Nielsen promises to pay you a charming sum for simply installing its Nielsen Digital Voice app on your computer. That’s all you have to do – install the software and let it run in the background of your system. In exchange, you get a check in the mail.
In this Nielsen Digital Voice review, we’ll be digging into Nielsen Digital Voice. By the end of this review, you’ll have no trouble deciding if you should give Nielsen’s offer a try.
About Nielsen Digital Voice
Businesses need consumer insights so they can improve the quality of their products and come up with more effective marketing strategies. Market research companies help these businesses get the data they need through surveys.
Nielsen is one of these market research companies, and it has been in the game for almost a century. By being a Nielsen panelist, you get to share your opinion about products/services, and in exchange for your efforts, you receive cash and other rewards.
As a leading market research organization, Nielsen is famous for its TV rating system and legit internet survey site.
To expand its market research efforts, Nielsen introduced Nielsen Digital Voice (NDV). It’s an innovative research project that measures the internet behaviors, interests, and habits of consumers. The information from this research is used by NDV’s clients to develop better online ad strategies and more.
While all of this is great for the companies that use NDV, what’s in it for you?
First, the data you provide as an NDV member contributes to you being able to get a better service from many of the brands you typically patronize.
Second, and most important, NDV pays you cash for participating in its research, but unlike other survey sites where you have to answer questionnaires to get paid, NDV will reward you for simply installing its app on your computer and letting it run in the background.
You can sign up to partake in this interesting opportunity even if you don’t live in the US. Some of the other countries NDV has members in are the UK, France, Switzerland, China, Australia, Spain, Brazil, Germany, and others.
While all of this sounds lovely, it’s all pointless if the arrangement is a scam. To help you figure out if you can make extra money using NDV, our Nielsen Digital Voice reviews look into how the platform works.
How Does the Site Work?
The primary purpose of NDV is holistically analyzing consumer behavior when they are using their computer and/or on the internet.
But for you, Nielsen Digital Voice is a means to earn passive income. By installing the Nielsen software on your smartphone, PC, or laptop, you’ll be giving the company access to monitor and analyze how you use your system and your browsing habits.
In exchange for this, you get cash via check in the mail. How much you can earn as an NDV member will depend on how long you have the software installed on your device.
Once installed, the software will run in the background. You won’t have to worry about it interfering with the performance of your device, and you don’t have to do anything on the app.
While the app runs, it’ll unobtrusively monitor your data and deliver to Nielsen’s development team real-time insights regarding your online preferences and habits. There are no annoying pop-ups, and the data from your device will be gathered anonymously, meaning that the data can’t be traced back to you.
You can’t become an NDV member or use the app unless you are over the age of 18. You also need to be the actual owner of the device you’ll be installing the app on, or at least have the permission of the owner to use the device.
If you meet these minimum requirements, the signup process itself is surprisingly straightforward.
On the Nielsen Digital Voice website, you’ll answer some screening questions regarding your age, location, and other demographics related questions. Your answers to these questions will be used to determine which demographics you fall under.
If you successfully complete the screening, you’ll receive access to download and install the NDV application on your preferred device. You can only get the software from the Nielsen Digital Voice’s website.
If you run into issues downloading or installing the software, Nielsen’s competent customer support is available to assist you.
Aside from paying you to let their app run on your device, Nielsen also offers paid surveys. You’ll be notified on these surveys by the app, and the surveys are voluntary so you can choose to take or ignore them. You can earn about $5 per survey, but they are rare, so don’t be surprised if you never receive an invite to one.
The surveys are typically for gathering additional market research information that’ll help Nielsen better understand your internet use and behavior.
As we’ve mentioned, to earn rewards from NDV, all you have to do is install the app and use the device it’s installed on like you normally would. You don’t have to visit any specific websites or fulfill any tasks. Just go about your regular business.
If for some reason, you lose interest in participating in the program, you can uninstall the app whenever you like, but don’t expect to get paid if the app wasn’t installed on your device for up to a month.
Your reward for installing the app is a check in the mail. No PayPal. No gift cards or Visa cards. It can take up to 90 days for you to receive said check.
Having the app on your device also makes you eligible to win Nielsen Digital Voice’s monthly sweepstake. The longer you have the app installed, the more entries you get in the sweepstake, and the higher your chances of winning a portion of the $10,000 prize.
According to Nielsen, about 400 NDV users win the sweepstakes every month. I’m skeptical about this figure, but if it’s for real and you win, you’ll get your check in the mail about 90 days after the draw.
Is the Site Legit?
So far so good, Nielsen Digital Voice seems like a great and easy way to earn passive income, but whether this is going to be any good to you depends on if the platform is legit.
Based on feedback from members and Nielsen Digital Voice reviews, I believe it’s 100% legit.
NDV’s parent company, Nielsen, is accredited on Better Business Bureau (BBB), which is something very few market research companies can brag about. On top of that, the company has an A+ BBB rating, which is a good indicator that the company operates a reputable business.
Further proof of NDV’s legitimacy is the level of privacy they provide their members. Your data will be anonymously collected, which means it can’t be traced back to you. Also, your data won’t be shared with other parties, which means your personal information is safe, and you don’t have to worry about spam emails.
While it’s true that you can’t influence how much you can earn from being a member, you at least have a guarantee that your check will arrive in the mail. And the longer you have the app installed and running on your device, the bigger the number you’ll see on your check.
Signing up is free, and you don’t have to provide credit card details. This is unlike what you’ll see on most scam paid survey sites. The Norton Secured tag on NDV’s signup page means your data is protected against thieves who would like to steal your personal information. Most of the people participating in the Nielsen Digital Voice program, or who have participated in the past, have mostly good things to say about it.
Just like every other get-paid-to platform, though, there are a few complaints. Most of the complaints are from people who never got their check in the mail, but the number of people with such complaints is far less than people who got paid, so I wouldn’t judge NDV based on this.
Another complaint from users is that they never received special surveys. As I mentioned earlier, NDV survey invites are rare. Also, you can only get them if you fall within certain demographics. If you are not within those demographics, there’s very little chance that you’ll ever get to take an NDV survey.
As long as you follow the rules of the platform and keep the app installed, you should get your check in the mail, and also a chance to win the monthly sweepstakes.
The Good and the Bad In a Nutshell
Based on Nielsen Digital Voice reviews, here are some noteworthy pros about the platform.
- Passive source of extra cash. You don’t need to do anything extra on the app to earn money. Just install it, let the app do its thing while you go about your business, and you can look forward to getting your check.
- The occasional paid survey. You can earn even more by participating in NDV special surveys. Some of these surveys are worth up to $5.
- Your data is protected. Data is retrieved anonymously from your device to mask your identity. Also, the data is for analytical purposes only, which means it won’t be sold.
- Unobtrusive application. While the app runs in the background of your device, it won’t slow down your device’s performance or impede the use of other applications.
- Uninstall at your convenience. Whenever you are ready, you can uninstall the app. Uninstallation is easy, and you don’t need any authorization to do it.
- Sweepstakes. The longer you have the app installed, the higher your chances of getting a piece of the $10,000 sweepstakes prize.
The following cons are based on member complaints and Nielsen Digital Voice reviews:
- Limited earnings. How much you actually earn from having the app on your device is unknown and will differ from person to person.
- Big Brother is watching. You might find the idea of having your internet activity monitored by unknown people intrusive and off-putting.
- Slow cash out. Payments are received only via check. It can take 90 days or more to get your check in the mail. It would have been nicer if there was a PayPal option.
- Limited sweepstakes prize. Your chances of winning big in the sweepstakes are minimal. Also, the highest receivable sweepstakes prize is $1,000.
- No referral program. It’d be nice if there was a referral program that you could take advantage of to maximize your earnings from NDV.
Based on everything revealed we’ve written in this Nielsen Digital Voice review, it’s safe to say that the program is way legit and is the ultimate get. By installing it, you get to earn money passively while the software analyzes your online activities and behaviors.
The entire process is transparent, and there are no gimmicks that try to trick you into paying to join or releasing sensitive personal information. The program’s affiliation with a reputable company like Nielsen also inspires a lot of trust in its legitimacy.
You can also uninstall the app whenever you like. There are stories that Nielsen offers some of its NDV members an extra $5 to keep the app installed for a bit longer when they try uninstalling it. People who experienced this stated that they did get that $5.
You could be one of the lucky people that gets offered this bribe.
That said, it’s true that you are not going to get rich with NDV, and that it’ll take a while to receive your first paycheck. None the less, getting money in exchange for doing something as simple as installing an app is still a pretty good deal.
If you want to earn more extra cash, we recommend installing NDV and joining as many reputable paid survey sites as you can. That way, you’ll have multiple money-making opportunities and a more reliable stream of extra cash.
