Online paid survey sites have exploded in recent years, and it can be challenging to decide which ones are worth joining. You need to consider whether the activities on offer will reward you with decent cash and rewards worth your time.
One site to consider that also offers get-paid-to tasks to boost your income is Clixsense, a get-paid-to and survey site that rewards its members for completing online tasks.
In this ClixSense review, we’ll look at the platform in detail, to discern how you can get the most value from it. We’ll also look at earnings expectations, and more importantly, whether it’s a legit site.
ClixSense at a Glance
- High-quality paid survey and get-paid-to website
- Members eligible to participate from all over the world
- $30 million paid out to members so far
- Low cash out threshold of $20
- Decent referral and affiliate program
- Once a week payment processing (does not support PayPal)
- No mobile app as yet, but they do have a mobile-friendly website
Clixsense is a GPT and paid survey platform headquartered in Hampstead, North Carolina. It has been operating since 2007 and has established a top position in the online market research and tasks industry.
In May 2019, they were acquired by Prodege LLC, a customer engagement platform that also owns well-known brands such as Swagbucks, InboxDollars, Shop at Home, and eBay.
Originally a PTC site, ClixSense, now known as ySense, changed their model in 2012 to become a paid survey and get-paid-to website. They work as a middleman between companies and their consumers, providing members with task completion activities.
Participants from all over the world are eligible to participate. However, earnings are often less in developing countries compared to developed countries.
For example, taking surveys will pay you $0.50 – $5 depending on your location. If you reside in countries like the Philippines, Pakistan, India, or Bangladesh, you can expect to earn $0.50 – $2 from surveys.
Referral or affiliate earnings also differ depending on the location of the referral. When someone joins the platform using your affiliate link, you can earn $0.10 – $0.30 according to the location of your referral.
Although this platform is not a get rich quick scheme (legitimate online platforms rarely claim to be), surveys and tasks require only 10 – 20 minutes of your time. If you work efficiently on the platform and have some time to spare, you can make a decent amount of money without expending much effort.
ClixSense pay once a week via Skrill, Payoneer, Payza, and Tango. Strangely, they do not support PayPal deposits. Payoneer has a $2 processing fee, while Skrill applies 2% fees on the amount of your withdrawal. Withdrawing using the Tango card, however, attracts no charge.
If you are a resident of the USA or Canada, you can also receive your earnings in the mail via check.
How Does ClixSense Work?
This platform pays its members to complete online surveys and get-paid-to tasks. One upon a time, they offered pay-to-click services, but these stopped in 2012. You will receive compensation for completing surveys and simple tasks such as playing games, downloading apps, internet research, data entry, watching videos, and more.
How to Sign Up to ClixSense
Creating your user account in Clixsense is a straightforward process.
- Go to Clixsense and fill in the sign-up form. Make sure to choose a unique username to differentiate your account from the millions of others on the platform.
- ClixSense will send you a confirmation email. Click on the link in the confirmation email to activate your account.
- You’ll then need to fill in your User Profile and choose your preferred payment method.
- You are now ready to start completing tasks and earning.
How You Earn from the Site
You can earn from ClixSense in four main ways:
Completing Paid Surveys
ClixSense, especially after they joined the Prodege family of consumer rewards platforms, has some of the best surveys available. You’ll first be sent surveys indiscriminately, but as you spend more time on the site, the surveys will be tailored to your needs.
You’ll initially need to fill in a survey profile as well. Be as accurate as possible as these details will show up as inconsistencies if your profile differs from your survey answers later on. Should you complete the survey without any hitches, your account will be credited instantly.
Keep an eye out for the surveys as soon as they are available, as they are in high demand. Most studies appear and disappear in a flash, and you may miss out on an excellent earning opportunity. Whenever you receive a survey, make sure to complete it in one sitting if possible, and as soon as you can.
Tasks are one of the best ways to earn on this platform. After all, it is a get-paid-to website. All micro-jobs on ClixSense are sourced from the task platform Figure Eight, which also has a global membership.
You’ll need to create an account on the Figure Right website and link this account to your ClixSense account. Many members are not thrilled about this requirement, and it is a source of many a negative ClixSense review.
Task earnings are based on your accuracy and include internet research and data entry jobs. The more accurately you complete the tasks, the more tasks are made available to you.
As a beginner, you’ll need to concentrate on accuracy rather than speed. Accuracy will unlock higher levels for you, thus increasing your earnings potential.
Every $50 you earn on completing tasks, will net you a $5 bonus, and each task will make you an average of $0.04.
ClixSense has various offer walls with plenty of opportunities for its members.
You’ll need to explore the site carefully to ensure that you end up with the highest paying ones. The tasks on offer will also depend on your location. Clixsense has a list of top-tier countries, and if you reside in one of these countries, you can expect higher pay for tasks completed.
The disparity in payment is because the advertisers on the platforms mostly come from these developed countries, so residents of these countries end up receiving more compensation.
Referral and Affiliate Program
Referring someone with your affiliate link earns you 25% commission from your referral for the lifetime of your membership and theirs. If you refer people within the first week of joining, you will receive a bonus of 10-30 cents per referral. As soon as your referral earns their first $5, you will also receive a $2 bonus.
Top taskers on ClixSense typically make $400 a month, without referrals.
Is ClixSense Legit?
Clixsense, also known as ySense, is a paid survey online platform that has carved a niche in the paid-to-click and get-paid-to industry.
They are listed on the Better Business Bureau with a good A rating. They do, however, have below-average 48% trust rating on TrustPilot, owing to some negative ClixSense reviews received from customers.
Recently, they’ve been taken over by Prodege LLC, which also owns Swagbucks, one of the best survey sites in the industry. Prodege, we hope, will improve the rewards system and survey availability for clients on the site.
What are some of the user comments from the global users of the site? Let’s take a look.
“I used to recommend it to friends but would not dream of doing so again. The time equation of what you put in versus what you earn just does not stack up nowadays. Might still be OK for US users but for us in the UK.” – Richard Adams on TrustPilot, May 23, 2019. "I've been a member of this site for more than two years and have cashed out once a month. I don't get much, but they do pay." – Artchee from the Philippines, November 18, 2018. “There are too many surveys that you do not qualify for, and quite often you don’t find out until the end of the survey (which is also unfair)." – Dmitry V. on Sitejabber, March 11, 2018.
Despite mediocre ratings from some consumers, and hiccups experienced when ClixSense transitioned to ySense, the site is definitively not a scam. They have paid out $ 33 million to their members to date, and if that’s not legitimate, we don’t know what is!
Where Does ClixSense Excel and Where Does It Fall Short?
- The platform is free to join. Ideally, you should never have to pay to enter a paid survey site.
- It has an extensive global reach, which means you are eligible to participate from any location in the world
- They process payments once per week which is better than some online survey sites that can take as long as 8-12 weeks
- They have a low cash out threshold of $20
- ClixSense has one of the highest Pay-to-Click or Get-Paid-to rates for task completion on similar sites online
- Their interface is mobile-friendly, which means you can work while on the go
- You earn 20-30% of your referral’s earnings for the lifetime of their membership. If your referral is from one of the Nordic countries (excepting Iceland), you will earn a $5 bonus as soon as your referral makes $5 for completing surveys and tasks on the platform
- They don’t support direct PayPal deposits. Most online businesses worth their salt partner with PayPal, so the lack of this feature can be inconveniencing. They process payments via Payoneer, Skrill, Tango, and if residing in the US or Canada, via check.
- Although the platforms reach is global, there are lesser opportunities and earnings for people not living in top-tier countries. This disadvantage may reduce your expected earnings if you are logging in from less developed countries.
Although Clixsense is not a scam, their earnings are quite low. Many ClixSense reviews are not so good because of this factor.
You do need some amount of time on the website before you earn some good cash. For students, or people living in less developed countries where the wages are traditionally low, ClixSense may serve their needs, typically making top-performing members $400-$500 a month.
If you’re a busy person with very little time on your hands, though, and wish to earn a decent income from this side hustle, this site may not be for you.
With their acquisition by Prodege LLC, and their tagline “create rewarding moments,” we expect that survey availability and the overall rate of return on the platform will improve globally. We hope you enjoyed our latest ClixSense review, and we would love to know your views in the comments.
