Buffer Jobs Review: A Remote Company with Unbelievable Employee Benefits

Buffer jobs review: A remote company with unbelievable benefits! This Buffer jobs review couldn’t come at a better time. With more workers seeking flexibility in how, when, and where they work, Buffer has certainly answered that call with their entirely remote workforce.

And while you may not have ever heard of Buffer before, rest assured they are very much a legitimate company with remote jobs. Did I also mention they have some of the best employee benefits I’ve ever seen for remote workers? (Unlimited vacay days anyone?)

So, what is Buffer and how can you build your work-at-home career with them? Read my Buffer jobs review to learn what it’s like to join this fully distributed team!

About Buffer

Before jumping into Buffer jobs, let’s take a look at the company.

Joel is the co-founder and current CEO of Buffer. He wanted to build a social media tool that was easy to use, saved time, and helped drive traffic and engagement. It worked! Today thousands of digital marketers, bloggers, and solopreneurs use Buffer (myself included) to save time and sanity when dealing with the ever-growing demands of social media as it relates to business.

Think of Buffer as an authentic automation tool. You can fill up your Buffer queue and have it post for you on various social channels, 24/7, without having to be physically present in front of your computer. With built-in analytics and ‘smart scheduling’ it makes it super easy to track posts to see what’s working (and what’s not). And it couldn’t be simpler to use. Seriously. Give it a try. There’s a free plan you can sign up for to see what I’m talking about!

How Buffer Came To Be Distributed

Buffer is what’s known as a distributed workforce. If you hang out here enough, you’ve heard me talk about these forward-thinking, remote-friendly companies before.

If not, that’s okay too. Essentially, a distributed workforce is one where all of its employees work from a remote location. In Buffer’s case, that amounts to an entire team, from CEO to customer advocate, spread out across the world.

From Day 1, Team Buffer decided to “focus on building one of the most unique and fulfilling workplaces that exist, by rethinking a lot of traditional practices.”

And, yes, that means being able to work from where you’re happiest (home or Hawaii or Helsinki), but there’s so much more that goes into the company’s culture other than working from home.

The 10 Buffer Values

No Buffer jobs review would be complete without mentioning the 10 Buffer Values. The Values came about when co-founders, Joel and Leo, repeatedly read the inspiring Dale Carnegie book, How To Win Friends and Influence People. (If you’ve never read it, stop what you’re doing right now and grab a copy on Amazon. It’s a must read!)

Their own beliefs coupled with Carnegie’s words of wisdom, brought the Buffer Values to be. Curious what they may be? Go check them out! If you’re even thinking of applying to Buffer, you’ll want to understand the way they work — and that means reading (and believe in) their core values.

The Benefits of Working at Buffer

We know what Buffer is and who they are, but what do you get out of working there? Aside from the obvious — working where you’re happiest — Buffer offers their employees some pretty notable perks.

Those include:

  • A Macbook to do your best work
  • Annual retreats to meet up with the team (paid, of course!)
  • Unlimited time off
  • Free books
  • Health insurance, 100% covered by Buffer
  • Equity in the company
  • Paid family leave
  • Monthly stipend for education

And did I mention that workers don’t have a set schedule? That’s right. There are no mandatory hours to log each week and team members never have to watch the clock! Because, hey, it’s all about quality of work over quantity, right?

And while all of these perks are undeniably nice, it’s Buffer’s commitment to wholeness that really stands out to me. That is, all employees are encouraged to bring their entire selves to work including “passions and strengths, flaws and vulnerabilities.”

What It’s Like To Work on a Remote Team Like Buffer

Seriously, Buffer employees are all over the place. Take a look for yourself:

Buffer jobs review: A remote company with unbelievable benefits!

When you’re used to your coworkers being the next cubicle over, it takes time to adjust to remote work. Instead of seeing coworkers every day, having drinks after work, or BS-ing in the breakroom, you’ll use tools of the remote workers’ trade to stay connected, productive, and collaborative!

What are they? At Buffer, they stay connected across different timezones with:

A workflow tool that makes it easy track, organize, and prioritize projects.

An easy-to-use app for group chats, video chats, and screen sharing.

Keep track of your own progress and that of your coworkers so you always stay in sync no matter how far away you are.

Of course, those tools are only used to KIT with coworkers. There are many others platforms Team Buffer uses to connect with their 2,000,000+ customers every month.

I share these remote workers’ tools to give you a glimpse of what a “day in the life” of a Buffer employee is like. It’s important to see what they use and how they work together across multiple timezones to see if you could work the same way ?

Buffer Journey

After you read unlimited vacation days, you probably said “Sign me up!” So, let’s take a look at the remote jobs available at Buffer. Because they’re a distributed team, you’ll find jobs ranging from product and engineering to human resources and, of course, customer happiness.

Curious about available Buffer jobs right now? Head on over to their “Join The Buffer Journey” page to see current openings.

Even if there are no roles available at the moment that fit your skills, they’d still love to hear from you! You never know, you may convince Team Buffer they need Y-O-U on their side.
